Servicing your engine is a vital process during your ownership of any outboard.
Whether its 20 hours, 100 hours or 300, this guide will show you the usual necessary steps during all services that your engine will or has required.
- 20 hours or yearly (Whichever comes first.)
On most engines, the first service is quite a sparse amount of routine maintenance, only covering the most frequently used consumables such as an oil filter and the oil itself.
- 100 hours or yearly (Whichever comes first.)
This is where you'd typically find branded kits for your engine, such as these pre-configured kits you can find for Suzuki outboards. A 100 hour service would involve replacing the impeller (or getting a water pump repair kit), an inline fuel filter, gearbox drain gaskets, thermostat gasket, spark plugs, anodes, oil filter, gear oil and the engine oil itself.
